Following the incredible double ship renovation for DFDS’s latest cross Channel ferries Côte des Flandres and Côte des Dunes last year, Trimline were contracted to undertake the £multi-million transformation of the Calais Seaways.
A team of over 140 tradespeople spent 6 weeks in Dunkirk to bring Calais Seaways in line with the other ‘C class’ ships. Trimline converted an existing bar area into the newly rebranded Lighthouse Café and created a new hospital/first aid area. A complete refurbishment of a retail unit, premium lounge and Seven Seas restaurant were also completed requiring bespoke joinery items crafted by Trimline’s skilled joinery team.
Trimline worked hard to complete the works and despite a very short time frame from award of contract to on site delivery, the experienced team received final project sign-off some 8 days ahead of schedule, enabling DFDS to meet critical in-service schedules.
The commitment and desire to deliver from their trusted suppliers was crucial to the successful completion of the project, coupled with a pragmatic and supportive customer who were tireless in their assistance.
Trimline’s Ferry Key Account Manager Neil Quinlan commented: “Trimlines objective was to produce the same quality and high standards that we achieved last year on Côte des Flandres and Côte des Dunes. The team are proud to have achieved this some 8 days ahead of schedule. This is testament to the great working relationship we have with DFDS and our key suppliers.”
Nigel Cureton, Fleet Group Manager UK & France, says: “We have been impressed by the cooperation as well as the professionality and commitment of the teams involved. We are very pleased with the results that will allow us to offer a big improvement to our customers who will experience very beautiful and lovely facilities on all of our six vessels serving between Dover and France.
