Trimline’s specialist team of around 350 tradespeople carried out the extensive refit to the 35 main public areas, including fully re-purposing some areas as well as some significant turn key bar & catering areas such as Surf & Turf & Kora La, which included building a new A60 galley with fire shutter and adjoining pantry and restaurant refurbishment.
This included structural steel work, electrical, HVAC, upholstery, plumbing, catering Joinery, decoration, flooring, etc. Works continued in The Mediterranean and new bar, club and casino Indigo where the main 17m bar was installed that looks out on the FWD end of the ship on deck 12. All stairways, landings, and alleyways were also re-carpeted, giving Explorer a fresh and contemporary now look.
Founded in 1965, Trimline applies its rich 53-year heritage and experience to continually offer innovative solutions to every project. Based on their previous knowledge of working at this dockyard, Trimline were well aware of the restrictions on materials movements. In order to maximise efficiency, Trimline procured a dedicated storage space on site and hired its own forklift. With this infrastructure in place, they were confident that the extensive installation programme was not hindered by the lack of materials movement accessibility.
Trimline’s COO Ross Welham said “We were delighted to work with Marella Cruises again. Having carried out interior rebrands on Marella Discovery and Marella Discovery 2, as well as refurbishments to the remaining Marella fleet, Trimline has unrivalled knowledge of the brand and our experienced team bought this knowledge to the Explorer refurbishment. As with all our refits, a lot of planning went into this project and we are delighted to have created such a stunning interior for the new Marella Explorer.”
